their latest poll yesterday and found in the state of ohio it's president obama leading mitt romney right now by nine points. the other big home state newspaper poll was from the des moines register. according to that poll, the des moines register poll in iowa, president obama is leading by four points. there are a ton of national tracking polls out today. and spoiler alert, they all show president obama ahead by a few points. in terms of the senate races, that same columbus poll out of ohio that shows president obama ahead it shows sherrod brown leading by ten poin ing to tza warren and scot brown debate in massachusetts, we'll beki abthata moment, there's a new poll out today in acttt elet enr scott brown by two. in pennsylvania, a newspaper poll released over the weekend put the democrat in that race bob casey ahead of his republican challenger by eight points. as mitt romney's, shall we say, second place standing starts to look like more and more of a permanent residence as it seems like a long shot for winning the presidency, the down ticket effect of that is starting to become a bigger

loses florida, their chances of winning the election are close to zero. right now the romney campaign is running a little bit ahead. if we look at the pattern of support among groups like hispanics and the white working class, it's a be the best group for romney to make progress. we look at the break out from the polls that do provide them. we're not seeing any progress. we're not seeing a noticeably bigger margin. it is not happening. that is being translated into a similar margin here in the center of the state. minorities are going up. in virginia, the key to virginia for romney would be to widen the margin they would get. mccain carried them by over 30 points. so did romney. it is basically about the same margin as mccain got in 2008. we see this burgeoning white college graduate group that obama lost by about 11. in 2008. the is basically about even. it makes it difficult for romney to put together a coalition that could put this. colorado has been closed. obama looks like he has a three or four. lead. -- thre or four point lead. it does not appear that romney is able to turn tha

in the debate he has to say, did -- he should have said, and mitt romney, are you right, he not appearing before 60 or 70 million people. the president did not play to offense or defense wednesday night. he didn't defend himself against charges that mitt romney made of his administration that have been fact checked time and again on the president's side. and he didn't play offense. he didn't give a sense where he wanted to go. judy, vice presidential debate does matter because the democrats can't lose two in a row. they really can't. i think joe biden is in a stronger position because he has spent a lot of time, four years, defending, explaining and making the case for barack obama whereas paul ryan is in an awkward position. he's going to defend, make the case to mitt romney whom he has basically been joined to the hip at six weeks ago. and you know, he's got the whole independent political identity himself. i mean biden obama as a team at this point. but i think that the president, is just going to forget the first debate and be ready in the second one to make his case. and to engage. he wasn'
